Do I need sailing experience to rent a boat?
To be able to navigate a boat is necessary to have a valid nautical licence. If you want to rent a boat you will also need to have a minimum of years of experience in navigation.
Our team can help you to know if your licence is valid for a bareboat charter in every destination.
However, if you don’t have a sailing licence, you can hire a professional skipper.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Duration of charters is usually in 7-day intervals (one week, two weeks or more), begin and end on Saturdays, especially in high season, and usually you are required to have the yacht back in port the evening before the charter ends.
There is a possibility of short period and weekend charters out of the season or in very last minute, please contact us to make an enquiry.
How many people can go on board?
Most yachts for charter are between 30 and 50 feet and have a capacity between 2 and 12 people.
If you are hiring a professional skipper, it is better to take a boat with a single cabin for them. At the time of booking, it is important to specify the number of people who are going to sail and provide a complete list of the crew at least 2 weeks before the departure date.
It is mandatory to spend the nights at the base?
Most of the yachts rentals include mooring for the first and / or last night in the main base. The mooring in other ports will always be in charge of the client. If you do not need to refuel electricity, water or food supplies, it is highly recommended to find quiet anchorages to spend the night. The staff at the base can advise you on the best places to anchor.
What should I bring?
Check if your boat include sheets and towels, in some cases are mandatory if you do not bring your own.
You should bring: bathing suits, T-shirts, shorts, hats, sun protection, beach towels and some jacket to wear on cold nights. You should wear sports shoes and comfortable, non-slip shoes, and your flip-flops for the beach. In seasons of less heat, it is necessary to take waterproof and warmer clothes.
Pack in soft bags since it is much easier to store them in the small spaces enabled for the luggage in the boat. Some fleet operators do not allow hard suitcases with wheels on board.
Remember to bring all your original documents; sailing licence, passport, booking confirmation..
What if a problem arises while we are sailing?
If there are any problem or you have any doubts or questions about the boat while you are sailing, you must immediately contact the staff in the base to inform them of what has happened so they can help you andtell you what to do.
Layout of boats
Most of the boats have double cabins and the living room is usually convertible, so that the dining table is lowered and a mattress is placed on top of it offering another large double bed.
You can also find boats that include bunk beds, ideal for children.
When hiring a skipper the best choice are boats with single cabin and wc, frequently called skipper cabin, where the access is usually from the outside in the bow allowing you more privacy on board.
Boat water tank
The capacity of water tanks depend on the size of the boat. You will use the water for showering, cooking, washing and toilet use, it is recommended to use the water responsibly so it can last at least 2 or 3 days before going to a port to refuel. Depending on the port you will have a schedule and a cost for this type of services, normally included in the mooring fee.
What electrical equipment can I take?
Most rental boats have only 12v power on board, the same as in a car.
Therefore, it is recommended to carry a Car Lighter Charger for low-power devices such as mobile phones, tablets or mp3. If you want to charge a laptop, you need to have an inverter, not many boats have it available.
You could only use high-powered appliances, such as the hair dryer, at the marinas.
Can I hire a proffesional skipper?
Yes, when sending your request you have to indicate that you need a professional skipper.
The price for a skipper varies between 150 – 230 euros/day + meals, depending on the size of the yacht and destination. You will be responsible for providing the skipper’s daily meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The skipper is in charge of the boat and responsible for your safety. You have to take into account an extra cabin for the skipper.
They can advise you about the best routes and places to visit depending on the weather conditions. All passengers including the skipper must collaborate to keep the boat in good clean condition. In some boats, especially from 43 feet, there are single cabins commonly designed for the skipper.
Are there any extra costs?
To confirm your booking you need to pay the price of the boat and depending on the destination, you will be asked to pay in advance compulsory extras, such as final cleaning. Normally you have to pay for these extras at the base before departure.
The most common mandatory extras are; final cleaning, boarding expenses and tourist taxes.
Before boarding the charter company will ask you to leave a deposit that will be returned on the last day of charter if the boat is returned in perfect conditions. Many charter companies offer the possibility of paying a damage waiver that cancels or reduces part of the deposit.
Other additional costs that are never included and depend of the consumption are; fuel and water for the boat, moorings and provisions.
Other optional extras that you can add to your booking are sheets and towels, outboard motor, transfer service, wifi, paddle board, safety net, etc.

What documentation/information do I need to send to confirm a booking?
When making a booking, you need to send us your full name, address, mobil phone number, sailing licence and resume(only when you are not hiring a proffesional skipper) and fill up the crew list form.
Check-in and check-out
Weekly charters usually begin and end on Saturdays for multiples of seven days, especially in high season. Out of the season or in very last minute, there is a possibility to arrange some 3-4 days charters.
At your arrival in the base, you need to have all the original documentation (sailing license and passport), pay the deposit and extras booked and you will do the inventory of the boat together with the staff of the base. You must verify that the state and equipment of the boat are in good condition, that water and fuel tanks are full and that you have all the extras booked. The staff will explain you the correct operation of the boat and you should ask any questions that you may have.
If there is any damage to the boat or its equipment or there is something missing from the inventory when you return the boat, the base may use part of the deposit to compensate for or repair the damage caused.
Is food included? How do I organize the provisions?
Food is not included. When you rent a boat you need to plan the provisions, organize meals and do shopping before boarding, since you will spend a lot of time on board and it’s better if you have everything you need on board and not need to return frequently to a port for provisioning. At the time of shopping groceries, you have to consider the storage space and refrigerators on the boat, that not include freezer in some boats. It’s recommended to buy small containers, preferably plastic or cardboard which do not break easily.
If you hire a skipper and/or hostess you need to consider their meals too.
There is usually a supermarket near every port. Some bases offer a provisioning service that you can hire to make your sailing holidays easier.
How I do plan the sailing route?
Once you have confirmed your booking, you can start planning the sailing route.
Check our destination page and blog with some suggested sailing routes for every destiantion or consult us and we will send you some itineraries depending on the destination and duration of your holiday.
If you hire a skipper, he/she can help you to organize the best sailing route according to your preferences.
Sailing with children
Children should wear a lifejacket all the time they are on board and be supervised by adults. They should always be located in the safest places on the boat and therefore sleep in the safest cabins, for example the front.
The safety net is available and you should buy it to use it on the sides of the boat. When traveling with children, short cruises and mooring at ports are recommended.
Are pets allow on board?
Depending on the destination and the boat pets can be allowed on board paying an extra fee for cleaning. Sometimes it is free and in some cases it is completely forbidden due to hygiene and safety reasons.
It is important that you inform in your request if you want to take your pet with you, so we can find the best available boat for you and your best friend to sail next summer.
