The conditions of its prevailing winds make it highly recommended to have previous sailing experience to sail in San Martin
On this beautiful island, there is one of the largest annual regattas since 1980, the Heineken Regatta. This nautical event that began with only 12 boats, now attracts more than 200 boats and hundreds of people from all over the world.

When to sail in St. Martin: Although there is a slight difference between the dry season (January to June) and the rainy season (June to December), there is not really a rainy season like in the neighbouring islands.

The trade winds usually blow from December to March and from June to August.
The hurricane season officially begins in early July and ends at the end of November.
Capital: Marigot – French side / Philipsburg – Dutch side:
Language : English. However, the official language on the St. Maarten side is Dutch, and French on St. Martin. A high percentage of the population speaks fluent Spanish.
Currency: Euros, but U.S. Dollars are also allowed on both sides of the island. Most credit cards are accepted.
How to get there: International Airport “Princess Juliana” (closest to the departure base).
Documentation; For non-Europeans, a passport (valid 3 months after the date of return), as well as a return ticket. For stays longer than 3 months, a visa is required (consult French consulate).
For European Union residents arriving at the Esperance airport on the French side, only an identity card is required.
